How can the legal text of a specific restriction entry be changed in case new information on restricted substance(s)/use(s) become available after the entry into force of the restriction?

The availability of new information (e.g., on hazards or uses) for a substance (or a group of substances) restricted under REACH may lead the European Commission to decide to adapt the text of the restriction, by e.g., changing/expanding the scope and substances covered, extending or reducing deadlines. Although such change may affect an existing restriction entry, it is seen as a new restriction and typically requires following the normal restriction process under Article 69(1) of REACH. In certain cases simplified restriction the procedures in accordance with Article 68(2) of REACH and/or Article 131 of REACH can be used. In any event, a Commission decision is required.
